game will only take you about an hour and a half to play through, which isn’t very much. You can always replay levels to get all three stars, but the game would have to include more levels for it to score higher here. Still, it’s one and a half hours of a lot of fun!

You’ll need to get people to come to your island, and keep them happy while they are there. This Android simulation game has a whole lot of depth. You won’t beat it in a day or two; it’s going to take some time. If you do get tired of playing, life on the island will just keep on going.

If you’ve played a building/tycoon type sim you’ll be familiar with the gameplay. You need to get people to your island, and build all the amenities that will make them spend their money. You’ll take their cash, and use it to buy and upgrade more buildings. You will also gain XP points that will help you level up. As your levels rise, you’ll be able to unlock a wide variety of buildings. Paradise Island is one of the most in-depth sims I’ve played on the Android platform. Building and making money are the key aspects of the game, and you’ll have to do lots of both as the game progresses.

There really are a lot of buildings available, well over 100 in all. People will need places to stay, and things to keep them busy. You’ll be in charge of building cabanas, and Magnate Hotels, as well as Disco Clubs and Waterslides. If that’s not enough, your buildings will need power so you will need to take care of that too. Your structures can be upgraded as well, so you can keep raking the cash in. There is an awards/achievement system too with over 120 awards up for grabs. The game uses a leveling system of sorts, which was a nice touch. You get XP from completing tasks, and receiving awards. If you are in need of more money or “piastres” you can buy some via Paypal from within the game.
Verdict
Overall, Paradise Island is a pretty cool game. The graphics are great, and the gameplay is smooth. The touch controls worked well on my phone; I didn’t have a problem placing buildings or demolishing roads. If you are looking for a great casual simulation game you’ll probably like this one. It’s free and available for download in the Android Market.

Army Sniper pits you against a horde of terrorists hell-bent on shooting you square in the face. As snipers go, it has to be said the hero of Army Sniper is quite poor at the whole stealth thing… Rather than picking off targets while keeping their colleagues unaware of his presence, he seems more of gung-ho chap that likes to stand in plain sight, firing off rounds into groups of enemy soldiers while shouting ‘I’m over here’ and wearing a fluorescent vest…

THE EXPERIENCE
Army Sniper boasts that rarest of things these days: a storyline. Admittedly it’s hardly a ground-breaking one and only serves to break up the time between levels with some dreadful spelling and grammar before you’re swept off to face some more terrorists who are now standing in a different location.

The key innovation here is that Army Sniper uses your phone’s accelerometer to zero in on the bad guys. You tap the right hand side of the screen to look down your sniper scopes and then move your phone to lock on to your intended target. Then it’s just a case of hitting the on-screen fire button and hopefully you’ll hit the errant chap and shuffle his mortal coil off for him. Your accuracy is rewarded, with foot shots scoring less than body shots, which in turn score less than head shots. Or ‘head shoots’ as the game insists on calling them.

This is an interesting little mini Android game that’ll keep you occupied for those short 5 minute breaks where you’re looking for a breather. It’s achievements and competitive points feeling make it playable, but unfortunately its slightly weak in the overall finish.

Gameplay: Fly Boy is a 2-D flying shooter where you pilot a plane as far as possible. During your flight you’ll be shooting anything that moves whilst dodging bullets, missiles and bombs that are sent your way. Where your finger touches the screen will determine the plane’s position and whilst your finger is on the screen your guns will automatically fire.

Ace points: The game is pretty easy to understand, and is good to pick up and play for a few minutes. The graphics are quite neat and consistent, and the interface is fairly responsive. There is decent music and sound effects which help you feel like you’re in a 1950s fighter plane.
I like my mindless shooters so I enjoyed this game initially and the achievements which popped up spurred me on to keep playing. In fact, I played the game to the point where my thumb felt like it hurt and was gonna get a blister. Though to be honest I think that’s my weak thumb skin more than a claim for a great game.

And so it is in Crime Story, the new social game that challenges you to discover the fate of your missing brother while rising through the ranks of the criminal underworld to become a respected Big Boss. But a classic tale does not a classic game make, and this one turns out to be pretty flat.

I had high hopes when I first fired up Crime Story. It opens with an impressive montage of black and white "photos" telling of a loving and protective brother and son who decided to seek a better future in America. The game itself looks great too, with a colorful and highly-detailed isometric view of the seedy New World. Things start off at the Port, a shipping zone packed with trucks, containers, a giant crane and some pretty seedy buildings, but you'll also travel to a Big Park, the Northern Central neighborhood and, "coming soon," the Docks and "Residence." It's also got an impressively gangsta backbeat that really sets the mood for some hard knocks on mean streets.

I'm not even sure what's really happening in these battles, because everything is entirely automatic. I've never lost a fight so I guess I'm doing pretty well, but I don't feel like I've actually accomplished anything because it's 100 percent autopilot. I even spent some time running around beating up everyone in sight just to find out what would happen. The short answer is, nothing. I won every time and everybody seemed happy to let me do it.
Interactions with other characters in the game are limited to the aforementioned fighting, plus stealing from them and talking to them. I went on a pickpocketing spree, with results pretty much identical to those of my assault and battery rampage: plenty of picked pockets, not one single failure and no consequences of note. I stood behind one poor guy and picked his pocket at least a half-dozen times, scoring money, energy and experience every single time, but I eventually started to feel bad for him and took my show on the road.

Puzzle is a pre-determined layout of jewels that have to be destroyed in a specific way in order to have none remaining. This mode is all about finesse and trial and error.
This mix of different game modes means that you get a lot more playability out of it than your classic bejeweled-style game. The controls are simple: swipe to swap, or tap and swipe. The sounds and music are typically irritating; I have yet to find a puzzle game that I would rather listen to the sounds and music in game than other music stored on my phone. The backgrounds are pleasant enough but you don't really notice them when you are furiously racing against the clock.
If you like your puzzle games with a bit of variety, you will love Jewels Deluxe and you should get plenty of mileage out of it. The inbuilt save feature for each play mode makes it easy to pause and come back to, even if you just feel like swapping to a different mode.

Getting to the end is one part of your overall mission. Each level comes with a star rating, and the better you do, the more stars you'll pick up. Coins and ramps give the most points, while overtaking traffic and driving into oncoming traffic will also grab you the necessary points.

The police are a constant threat, although they're both a hindrance and useful, as smashing them in just the right spot will bag your lots of points too. The perfect run through a level means finding the best route that will give you the most jumps, coins and smashes.

The action is far too fast to be able to get full stars on your first go, and so in this way, Reckless Getaway is all about the replay value. You'll be retrying levels over and over again in an attempt to drive with the best style possible - and it's great fun every time.

For those worrying that the action will get samey too quickly, it's worth noting just how varied the environments are. One moment you'll be powering along a busy freeway, then flying down country lanes, and finally bombing it through towns full of Sunday drivers. With potholes, road hazards and incomplete paths abound, there's plenty to keep you occupied and excited.

Your task in each level is to knock down different structures by placing bombs on them. You choose the types and placement of the bombs, adjust their timing if you wish (to help create a domino effect) then hit the trigger to set it off. You pass the level if you get the height of the structure knocked down to a certain target and can get bonus points if you hit items placed around the level.

You’re given a variety of different bombs to work with that have different effects on the various materials found in the game. For instance, some are good for wood and concrete but won’t do much damage to steel.

They also have varying blast radii and some even cause materials around them to get pulled towards the explosion rather than away from it. All in service of not just blowing up parts of the structure, but getting the whole thing to come crashing down.

But it’s not just getting it to come down. There are certain areas you’ll need to avoid getting debris and other area that will give you bonuses if some does fall there. Each level has different objectives, and you can earn up to 3 stars for meeting them each time. You’ll be scored on how well you do and there are various trophies and achievements that can be unlocked in the process.

What’s amazing is how difficult that can actually be. Sure in first few levels it’s easy to find the keystones of the structures and just put the bomb there, but before long it really ramps up in difficulty. It’s only a few missions into the 70 included where that simple strategy falls away and you need to get a lot more creative and cunning in your bombing choices.

For a game about blowing stuff up it’s actually quite a complex endeavour. This isn’t the kind of thing where you just put a big stick of dynamite in the center and everything just goes flying. These are tactical, directed explosions, and if you want to knock down a structure then you need to be very exact in your placement and timing.

Everything centers around your hero. Each two-player battle is essentially a skirmish between two powerful heroes who have a wealth of allies, spells, items, and abilities to aid them.

Each round is divided into three sections. First you draw a new card to add to your hand. Then you choose a card to sacrifice, which turns it into a resource. Resources are required for virtually all actions in the game. And those actions are what come next, as you can utilize your resources to perform actions, as well as have your allies (if you have any) attack.

Aside from your hero, your deck consists of a wide array of useful cards. There are allies with ridiculous names like Victor Heartstriker and Sandra Trueblade, spells for attacking, boosts to make your squad stronger, and other special cards that do everything from preventing an enemy from attacking to infecting them with poison gas. In the beginning of a match, your resources will be low, so you won’t be able to use your more powerful cards until later. But eventually you’ll have plenty of strategic decisions to make, like which cards to sacrifice, who to attack, whether to focus on offense first or building up your squad, and so on.

And you also get to customize your deck to suit your own play style. In the beginning you’ll have to pick a hero, which will come with its own starter deck. But you can also purchase new cards. You’ll earn gold as you defeat foes that can be used to buy individual cards, and you can also spend real-world money on booster packs to beef up your deck. It’s pretty much the same system as any other CCG, except you get your initial deck for free and you can purchase new cards with in-game cash, which makes it a much cheaper option for those who don’t want to spend a ton of money.

But that’s a small price to play for such a great experience. It may sound complex, but Shadow Era is surprisingly easy to learn.

The game itself is similar to that old arcade game…can’t remember its name  right now…will update when I find that puppy. But basically it is a chain reaction game and you only have a few touches to start the chains. Different color bubbles show how weak or strong they are. So it is a puzzle game. Pretty good all around.
Like I said though, it is free. So give it a go if you are into puzzles.

It’s like watching three different soap operas at the same time, all playing at twice the normal speed.

Pulling these off is a question of timing, from choosing the design itself (hitting the '5' key when the style the customer is after flies across a bar at the bottom of the screen) to the act of actually applying it, though holding '5' when a gauge sweeps across light sections of a long bar has very little connection to the profession itself.

There is even a fan that blows a wind that could blow the paper out of direction, posing a real challenge to players of the game.
The game is free, that’s one positive. It’s addictive at first but it doesn’t offer that much to players and quite honestly it gets monotonous after playing it a few times. The challenges are few and seem repetitive. Its one of those apps you would end up uninstalling after a couple days or so.

What do you look for when playing a game or choosing one?
I prefer to go for a thinking game. Whether that be a turn based strategy or even a game of Chess and I have been known to stoop as low as Othello but for anything that is either too fast, action packed or stuffed with over the top explosions – forget it.
But from time to time I may download something on a whim and be surprised which is what happened when i installed Racing Moto.
I had recently submersed myself in emulating old consoles and was surprised at how addictive old games were and had pondered on why developers had overcomplicated such a simple thing which many refer to as gameplay and I think that’s what makes Racing Moto so good.  It oozes gameplay.
The challenge is simple. You have a three lane road on which to ride your 2 wheeled speed demon, I like to pretend I am on a Harley – Seriously, and randomly occupying these three lanes are cars travelling in the same direction. There is only one button to press and that provides you with a speed boost, enough to allow you to overtake cars and earn points doing so but you need to maintain a decent speed. Drive to slow and the cars will rear end you off the road.

As you complete each stage of the game your speed increases more and more but you need to be
careful and watch the cars in front of you. You will see their indicators light up which means they are going to change lane and usually that means they are going to get in your way.

This all sounds very simple and it is but the longer you stay on two wheels and the faster you go the more points you accrue and it is the highscore that drives you on. Each game you play will be to beat your last best score. And I for one found that very addictive.
Needless to say the graphics are very good for a 3D racer while they are never going to win awards they complement the game adequately and fit in well. It’s performance is solid and the gameplay, as I mentioned, very addictive.

Your object is to land planes just like a normal airport. Simple sufficient and it is. But they throw some additional tiny items in there to mix it up, but it nonetheless remains pretty easy. Basic… wait… what?? Yes basic. So with the thrash of detailed brilliant 3D games hitting Android why need to I choose up a straightforward tiny game? Properly Angry Birds got it correct with simple repetitive game play and it is a smash hit. Airport Mania does the very same. I very recommend the game for fantastic ten-15 min game play sessions. There is lots going on and it can get frustrating, wait I stated simple right…. Properly it is and isn’t. But 1 thing it is is super fun and lots of it. Go get it now, you wont be disappointed.

Gameplay
Airport Mania Game play is straightforward, just land the planes unload the passengers and get the strategy back into the sky and make income undertaking it. So straightforward a monkey can do it. Is it a puzzle game?? nope.. is it a method game?? nope… It is just a entertaining and crazy small game that will take your mind off of whatever it was you had been performing. Ok on to the Game Play…

You are operating an airport in which you need to land planes, unload the passengers and get them back into the air. You have to do all this as quickly as possible to retain everyone content and the happier the far more funds you make for extras. The game play is super basic, but these small extras is what will make issues fascinating. Not only do you have to land the plane unload the passengers, load passengers, then get it to take off once again, you may have to repair or refuel a plane or each.

Many of you are probably familiar with Fruit Ninja, the popular OpenFeint game. Are you itching to slice and dice some virtual fruit, but are weary about dropping a buck to do so? If so, then Fruit Slice may be the app you’re looking for.

The object of the game, for those of you who may not be familiar, is to chop as many of the flying fruit as possible to gain points. You also gain additional combo points when you slice multiple pieces of fruit at the same time.

There are two different styles of gameplay: classic, and time mode. In classic, the object is to chop as many fruit as possible, but to also avoid the bombs that randomly get thrown up with the fruit. If you slice a bomb, it’s game over. Also, you’re only allowed to let two pieces of fruit go unsliced, because if you miss three, again the game is over.

There is also a time mode, in which the object is to get the highest number of points possible within the time limit. There’s no penalty for missing fruit, so really  the goal is just to slice and dice as fast as you possibly can, and to get the most amount of combo points.

Once the game is over, you are given the option to retry, or to submit your score to an online leaderboard. Fruit Slice doesn’t have QUITE the social gaming features that Fruit Ninja does, however, having a basic leaderboard is still a nice option for users.

Townsmen:in-depth strategy game

Townsmen is highly recommended to anyone who likes in-depth strategy games and doesn't mind floundering for a while due to its virtually impenetrable control scheme.

There's something strangely compelling about city-building. If you live in a city, as I do, you're constantly thinking about how to improve it. I've decided that fixing Boston would take an army of civil engineers, weather control, suspension of habeas corpus, several hundred million dollars to get the Red Sox to the World Series, and an additional hundred million to reconstruct the metro area after the resulting riots. This is of course totally unfeasible, so I suppose I'll have to content myself with rockin' mobile simulations like Handy Games' Townsmen. Fine by me. Townsmen is currently locked in a stalemate with Anno 1503 for the title of Most Profound Mobile Game Ever in My Opinion--it would have won hands down if its controls were the least bit usable.
Townsmen's concept runs deep, especially for a game that's built around a single gameplay screen--namely, a pastoral hillside view of the valley in which you build your town--and a handful of menus. This valley is your canvas, the townsmen your brushes, and a handful of resources your paints. Your job is to make the correct economic decisions and turn your sleepy two-bit burg into a bustling metropolis, complete with traffic congestion, ludicrously high rents, and a snotty underground "scene."
In reality, you only have to worry about a few things: building, upgrading, and maintaining a few different types of facilities, such as fishing huts, lumber mills, and mines; deciding when to expand your workforce; and how to best allocate production and trade. However, given the sad state of Townsmen's control scheme and in-game documentation, this is more than enough to deal with at first. Navigating the necessary menus using the number keys verges on the futile for 30 minutes or so, because you have to use guess-and-check to ascertain the function of all the different keys. It also doesn't help that nothing in the game is labeled.

Townsmen delivers a truly immersive gameplay experience, filled with subtle variation and nuanced challenges. The basic idea is to parlay your initial resources--300 gold and a couple of workers--into a few basic buildings (a forestry station and fishery are foundational, producing food for your workers and wood for building upkeep) and then gradually climb the economic ladder by buying more capital to produce ever-more-complex resources, which sell at higher profits. The process is complicated by the multidimensional nature of resource usage (each building requires some resources for upkeep, and the later facilities require a certain amount of base resources to refine into more evolved commodities, like steel), as well as the occasional resource-robbing disaster, which force you to alter your well-laid plans and focus on keeping your head above water. It's a beautiful thing to watch your little worker drones scramble around the gorgeous landscape, obeying your commands and growing your profits. It makes me think I have a future in management.

Ninja Rush:hot katana game

Like a hot katana through butter, the universal appeal of the ninja is enough to slice through the hearts of the even the most stubborn of gamers. These deadly, unseen assassins have provided video game developers with plenty of inspiration over the years, and Ninja Rush continues this noble tradition, albeit with simpler controls and a score-based system which echoes the excellent Canabalt on iPhone.
In Ninja Rush the objective is to make your character run as far as possible before he either falls into a pit, collides with a deadly obstacle or loses all of his hit points after tangling with the many tough-looking samurai warriors that patrol the game.

Your ninja sprints automatically, but you can control his speed by sliding a finger across the screen. Tapping the display causes him to jump, while a second tap executes a double-jump which is handy for clearing large gaps. Another tap will unleash his grappling hook, which can be used at certain points to negotiate seemingly impassable caverns.

Naturally, being a trained assassin, your character is capable of dishing out a bit of punishment. Touching the shuriken icon on the screen lets fly with a throwing star, which is enough to dispatch the aforementioned samurai guards.

Eagle Nest:Great shooting game

Eagle Nest is a free, ad supported game so you'll see ads during loading screens, but not during actual game play. The game doesn't offer much in the way of variety, but it does have a few differences from Agent including a pretty title screen. First, during play you'll be given a "goalscore" that you're trying to beat in order to advance and let me tell you that advancement is not easy. Second, it's the only game that doesn't offer a weapon with infinite ammo. You're equipped with a six shooter and have to tap the bottom of the screen periodically (or when you hear 'click' instead of 'bang') to reload. The game is accompanied by some nice music and while the animations aren't quite as smooth as in Agent it still looks pretty good.

Robotek: Robots have taken over your world

The storyline of the game is that Robots have taken over your world, and you’re going to take it back one node at a time.  It’s definitely an interesting concept with some killer graphics, but how does the game play? Here’s what we thought after giving Robotek a run through…

Gameplay
The goal in each of your battles is to destroy the enemy mainframe; you take control of a big, cool looking robot, while your opponent looks kind of like a rocket ship, but is called a “mainframe.” There is a slot machine over your robots head, and your attacks or actions are determined by the roll of the slots. The more symbols you match, the more powerful your attack will be; if you get all three symbols to match you’ll get an extra turn as well. There are also tabs below the spinner that select the kind of action you’ll take. You get to choose from Warfare, Hacking, and Powers.
The Warfare tab will teleport new robots in to your gang, or repair ones you already have. Hacking can help to turn the tables in your favor in mid-battle, while the blue Power tab will put your robot crew on the offensive.You also have abilities that you can activate when they become ready; it will cost you cycles to use them and you get one cycle each turn. Once you select your ability, just spin the slots and your power will activate on your next attack. There are different abilities you can unlock as the game progresses like Nuke, Summon Hero, Emergency Repair and Rapid Fire.

When you win a battle in campaign mode, you’ll get that Node along with more power, and experience. The nodes have a star ranking which lets you know the difficulty of the level, before you start the battle. I’d recommend you start out easy; I tried the Vegas node and got my butt kicked very quickly. Each node also has a bit of a story with it which adds to the overall storyline of the game. It’s got a very good replay factor with over 200 levels spread around the world. There are 9 upgradable slot symbols to fit your style of play, along with 4 special abilities including the “Nuke.” Robotek also has a nice skill system with over 30 levels.

There is an online “Hall of Fame” and Facebook leader boards, so you can track your scores against others. Robotek has the ever popular in-app purchase system as well. You can get power & coins, access to a recharge node, and even unlock a “duel” mode to battle with your friends.

Verdict
The battle slot machine is a great twist, and you will have to use some strategy with deciding what actions to take during battle. I loved the way the robots looked, and the graphics have a great retro feel. It did take me a minute to get the hang of it, but once I ran through the brief tutorial, I was good to go. Robotek is free, and a lotta  fun to play; especially if you like Robots!
