The goal is to climb your dirt bike over various obstacles and reach the finish in the quickest time possible. You will then receive one, two, or three stars based on how fast you were. You control the tilt of the bike and the speed, and use that + physics to overcome the course. In terms of games like this, the gameplay is spot on. It engages you and frustrates you just enough that you become dedicated to beating the levels!

Visually, the game looks pretty clean. The rain and snow effects are a little annoying later on in the game, but otherwise it looks good. There’s also some music in the background, so it’s not awkwardly silent.

game will only take you about an hour and a half to play through, which isn’t very much. You can always replay levels to get all three stars, but the game would have to include more levels for it to score higher here. Still, it’s one and a half hours of a lot of fun!

Paradise Island:build your own island!

Paradise Island is a new simulation game that lets you build your own little island empire from the ground up. You’ll need to get people to come to your island, and keep them happy while they are there. This Android simulation game has a whole lot of depth. You won’t beat it in a day or two; it’s going to take some time. If you do get tired of playing, life on the island will just keep on going.

If you’ve played a building/tycoon type sim you’ll be familiar with the gameplay. You need to get people to your island, and build all the amenities that will make them spend their money. You’ll take their cash, and use it to buy and upgrade more buildings. You will also gain XP points that will help you level up. As your levels rise, you’ll be able to unlock a wide variety of buildings. Paradise Island is one of the most in-depth sims I’ve played on the Android platform. Building and making money are the key aspects of the game, and you’ll have to do lots of both as the game progresses.

There really are a lot of buildings available, well over 100 in all. People will need places to stay, and things to keep them busy. You’ll be in charge of building cabanas, and Magnate Hotels, as well as Disco Clubs and Waterslides. If that’s not enough, your buildings will need power so you will need to take care of that too. Your structures can be upgraded as well, so you can keep raking the cash in. There is an awards/achievement system too with over 120 awards up for grabs. The game uses a leveling system of sorts, which was a nice touch. You get XP from completing tasks, and receiving awards. If you are in need of more money or “piastres” you can buy some via Paypal from within the game.
Verdict
Overall, Paradise Island is a pretty cool game. The graphics are great, and the gameplay is smooth. The touch controls worked well on my phone; I didn’t have a problem placing buildings or demolishing roads. If you are looking for a great casual simulation game you’ll probably like this one. It’s free and available for download in the Android Market.

Army Sniper:fight the war against new terrorism

Army Sniper pits you against a horde of terrorists hell-bent on shooting you square in the face. As snipers go, it has to be said the hero of Army Sniper is quite poor at the whole stealth thing… Rather than picking off targets while keeping their colleagues unaware of his presence, he seems more of gung-ho chap that likes to stand in plain sight, firing off rounds into groups of enemy soldiers while shouting ‘I’m over here’ and wearing a fluorescent vest…

THE EXPERIENCE
Army Sniper boasts that rarest of things these days: a storyline. Admittedly it’s hardly a ground-breaking one and only serves to break up the time between levels with some dreadful spelling and grammar before you’re swept off to face some more terrorists who are now standing in a different location.

The key innovation here is that Army Sniper uses your phone’s accelerometer to zero in on the bad guys. You tap the right hand side of the screen to look down your sniper scopes and then move your phone to lock on to your intended target. Then it’s just a case of hitting the on-screen fire button and hopefully you’ll hit the errant chap and shuffle his mortal coil off for him. Your accuracy is rewarded, with foot shots scoring less than body shots, which in turn score less than head shots. Or ‘head shoots’ as the game insists on calling them.

Fly Boy: you own the sky!

This is an interesting little mini Android game that’ll keep you occupied for those short 5 minute breaks where you’re looking for a breather. It’s achievements and competitive points feeling make it playable, but unfortunately its slightly weak in the overall finish.

Gameplay: Fly Boy is a 2-D flying shooter where you pilot a plane as far as possible. During your flight you’ll be shooting anything that moves whilst dodging bullets, missiles and bombs that are sent your way. Where your finger touches the screen will determine the plane’s position and whilst your finger is on the screen your guns will automatically fire.

Ace points: The game is pretty easy to understand, and is good to pick up and play for a few minutes. The graphics are quite neat and consistent, and the interface is fairly responsive. There is decent music and sound effects which help you feel like you’re in a 1950s fighter plane.
I like my mindless shooters so I enjoyed this game initially and the achievements which popped up spurred me on to keep playing. In fact, I played the game to the point where my thumb felt like it hurt and was gonna get a blister. Though to be honest I think that’s my weak thumb skin more than a claim for a great game.
