BulkyPix.AMA release two new games on Android: Pix'n Love Rush and Burn it All

Another Android game developer has released multiple titles today. BulkyPix.AMA has released two new unique games onto the Google Play store called Pix'n Love Rush which is full of retro goodness and Burn it All which is a sort of action puzzle game.

Pix'n Love Rush is a new retro style action platformer for retro game fans out there. In this game you will be controlling Pixel Cat, running through each level as fast as you can while trying to collect all the bonuses. You will be running and jumping just like you would be in any other platformer from back in the day, dodging obstacles in your quest to get through each stage.
There are two modes you can play, one of which is geared towards a quick burst of game playing for when you are on a lunch break at work or only have a few minutes to play. This mode is limited to a 5 minute play session. The other gameplay mode is an infinite level mode where, if you have the reflexes and plenty of time to play, never ends. On top of that there is also four different difficulty settings to select from.

If you are feeling like getting a little puzzle action in instead then you might want to check out BulkyPix.AMA's other title called Burn it All. In this game you will be trying to get three little flames out of the center of the Earth and back to their father which happens to be the Sun. You will have to burn your way through barriers, blow things up, deal with underground monsters and avoid water / gas while trying to escape.

Burn it All Features:

- 3 little flames, each one with its own set of skills.
- Intuitive gameplay and completely addictive.
- Progressive and challenging difficulty.
- 5 worlds to unlock with 25 levels each
- Statistics and different achievements to unlock
- Unique graphics.

Burn it All has plenty of levels you will have to blaze your way through as well, totaling 125 to be exact. Each flame also has their own set of abilities you will have to utilize if you plan on being successful in completing the game.

Both Burn it All and Pix'n Love Rush feature some unique visuals and gameplay with the ability to play in both long and short bursts. You can pick up Pix'n Love Rush off of the Google Play store for $1.99 while Burn it All will set you back $0.99

Android Developers Can't Get Paid And It's Killing The Platform

Android has a monetization problem. According to a report from Flurry, for every dollar of iOS revenue, developers only get 24 cents from Android.

Recently, we spoke with Peter Farago, VP of Marketing at Flurry, to get his thoughts on the mobile platform wars. Flurry is a mobile analytics company and so has a pretty good vantage point on trends and developments in the app ecosystem.

Farago laid out three reasons for us that he thinks are behind Android's monetization gap:

Payments are not seamless on Android. Google Wallet, a new mobile payments system, was supposed to help solve this problem. However, as Farago told us, "Google Wallet has limited penetration, there is commerce friction." Compare this to other platforms. With iOS, you can link your phone to your iTunes account and download an app with one click.  Farago also cited Kindle Fire as another example. When a consumer fires up their brand-new Kindle Fire, they have to put a credit card down for the Kindle store, or else they can't use the device.
"They don't have a curated store." This is Farago's personal hypothesis. As a result of the platform's nature, Android has a less efficient app distribution model than iOS. Farago thinks consumers have been burned more on Android, or, as he put it, "There's a lot of garbage on the shelf."
"The consumer on Android is less willing to pay, there is more of an expectation that they get free stuff." Farago tells us this is a lot of developers' hypothesis. However, he believes it is often a self-fulfilling prophecy; developers choose to release a free, ad-supported Android app. He pointed to Rovio's Angry Birds Space, one of the most popular games of all time, as an example. Rovio only released a premium version on iOS. However, they created a free version, in addition to a premium one, for Android.
Farago also believes that Google will have a hard time fixing the problem, it goes against the company's DNA. Google wants to create highly scalable, frictionless systems. Consequently, it's the "anti-customer service company;" search engines don't have help lines. Apple and Amazon, on the other hand, have customer and retail in their DNA, it is a critical aspect of their user experience.

Furthermore, Farago told us, "It's against their culture, but it's also against their business model." Google wants to drive ad revenue, they are not as worried about the store. Their primary concern is expanding their ad inventory.

Closing Android's monetization gap, therefore, is not only a cultural challenge, but an inherent issue with the platform's business model.

We go deep in the weeds of this topic in our special report on the mobile platform wars.

NimbleBit flies the flag for Mobage's social clout as Android version of Pocket Planes announced

Given that Tiny Tower was released on Mobage, it's no great surprise the Android version of NimbleBit's next game is also coming to DeNA's platform.

Pocket Planes takes the concept of moving your bitizens around a tower to the next level as you have to shuttle them around the world in planes, building up your small town airport to a international travel hub.

No doubt, it will be a great success, although given that Tiny Tower has now done over 13.5 million downloads (of which between 1 and 5 million were on Android), it's up against some stiff internal competition.

Fly by

Still, the signs look good given that the art style is the same, as is the attention to detail.

There will be 250 cities, and dozens of types of planes you can customise. Of course, the bitizens also get their share of action as you can tweak them, even down to the level of what the pilots wear.

And neatly making the most of Mobage, you'll also be able to trade plane parts with your friends, which sounds rather like the mechanic NimbleBit first honed its in Pocket Frogs game.

Incidentally, its Android version was powered by Plus+, ngmoco's a pre-acquisition social platform.

As for how the social elements in the iOS version will work, NimbleBit isn't saying. We assume Game Center.

Pocket Planes is due for a summer release on iOS and Android.

Gamevil's 3D DotA style game Plant Wars will be coming to Android soon

Gamevil just pushed out an update for their 3D DotA style game on iOS called Plant Wars. Being that a lot of people, including myself, love DotA style games, we figured we would ask our friends at Gamevil if Plants Wars would be coming to Android anytime soon.

Well the good news is that yes, it will be coming to Android and a lot sooner than you might think. For those of you unfamiliar with Plant Wars, in this game you control your hero who goes by the name of Leafy, along with some of his friends, in order to protect your forest from the invading beasts. Each level presents you with swarms of enemies which you have to defeat, eventually destroying their base before moving on to the next level.

Plant Wars also comes with three difficulties as well: Normal, Hard, and Hell modes. Currently Plant Wars is slated for release sometime in May 2012 if all goes well with the last minute developing and testing. It could be a bit longer. When it does get released onto Android, it will most likely be available for download for free.

Zynga launches ZombieSmash! for Android

Zynga game ZombieSmash! is now available for Android. This game has already been available in the iOS App Store, with the last update being on the 10th of August last year and the game is already on version 2.1. However, the game has finally come to Android and is available in Google Play for Rs. 52.13. According to a blog post by Zynga, "The game offers sophisticated ragdoll physics combined with the propriety SplatterEngine to create cartoon blood and gore that is both adorable and cathartic -- all at the same time". ZombieSmash! is a defense game where users have to flick and smash zombies until they're dead. Technically, zombies are already dead but the idea is to have them obliterated.

To keep the fight against zombies interesting, Zynga has added access to over 30 upgrades and special weapons which include asteroids, wrecking balls, liquid nitrogen and gigantic rolling boulders, which can either be used individually or in combination. ZombieSmash! will be available in eight languages and will feature four gameplay modes. There is Campaign mode where players are challenged to survive for 31 days against the mounting zombie threat and 30 nights in the Camp Nowhere Campaign. There is the Endless Seige mode where players are confronted with a never ending zombie assault. They need to hold out as long as possible. There is the Sandbox Mode where users have all the tools they need to defeat the zombies without any worry of peril and finally, there is Bonus Nights, where users destroy zombies in new ways. This special mode can be unlocked through extended gameplay, and by using your brains.

ZombieSmash! for Android comes bundled with live wallpaper and is also optimized for Android based tablets. In the spirit of ZombieSmash! coming to Android, Zynga's also made a video (see below) of a timelapse where the Android mascot slowly turns into a zombie.

For more zombie fun on your Android device, watch out for Zombies, Run! which should be out sometime this year. The app, which is already available for iOS helps you with your interval training while you run by making you think that there are zombies chasing you. The app contains 13 missions to get runners running more and contain seperate programs for beginner runners as well as more seasoned runners. In the meantime, enjoy smashing zombies with Zynga on your Android.

Garfield game arrives on Android FREE

Garfield, the lasagna loving Odie kicking cat has arrived on Android in his first official game called Garfield Defense: Attack of the Food Invaders. As you may have guessed from the name, this is a defense style game blending elements of tower defense and siege warfare gaming into one title.

Aliens, who happen to look like weird meatballs, have invaded Jon Arbuckles house right before snack time demanding all the food in the house. They won't eat the food though but instead build deadly fighting machines out of it which they will use to take over the world. All the Garfield characters are in the game as well to help out in defending your food.

Garfield Defense Features:

- The most popular lazy cat in the world in an epic new adventure
- Fusion of tower defense and siege styles with non-stop action
- Awesome Garfield art
- Unique gameplay that captures the wackiness of the original Garfield series
- Convince Garfield's friends to join your army by bribing them with popcorn
- Upgrade your army and improve your defenses using cookies that you find around Jon's house
- 60 challenging levels to conquer
- Authorized by Garfield creator Jim Davis and Paws, Inc.

Some of these franchises that have been around for a long time like Garfield and The Peanuts are very particular when it comes to adding new items to their franchises. This is, however, an official Jim Davis / Paws Inc game and a pretty fun one at that. Of course you have upgrades and different 'weapons' at your disposal as well to fend off the evil alien meatballs.

Fans of Garfield will want to grab this game but even if you are not a fan of the fat orange cat, it is a pretty well made defense game. If you have access to the Amazon App Store then you can download Garfield Defense: Attack of the Food Invaders for free.
